Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow…

NOVEMBER 11, 2016 VETERANS DAY WEEKEND. What better way to celebrate Veterans Day Weekend than to attend the Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow at Naval Air Station Pensacola. The show celebrates not only the holiday weekend, but the 70th Anniversary of the Blue Angels team as well.

What’s next?

OCTOBER 13, 2016. Many of you have asked me, “Why are you still in Pensacola? We thought you’d have headed down the road by now.” We thought so too, but a couple things changed. First, I decided not to resist all my doctors’ pleas that I stay in town a little longer. They remain amazed at … Continue reading »

Pat’s Blueberry Farm…

LET’S STOP. IT’S RIGHT ON THE WAY HOME. Driving home the morning after our wonderful Table in a Kitchen experience, where we enjoyed a five course meal and had a chance to interact with the chef who prepared it, I had a great idea. “Let’s stop at Pat’s Blueberry Farm and get some fresh vegetables,” I … Continue reading »

Happy Fourth of July…

FOURTH OF JULY, 2016. Independence Day! We celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress. That document declared the young American colonies to be the United States of America and no longer part of the British Empire. This most historic of days in our nation’s history is typically celebrated with fireworks, parades, … Continue reading »

Mobile Carnival Museum…

ABOUT AN HOUR’S DRIVE FROM PENSACOLA. Since arriving in the southern states, we’ve both wanted to see the Carnival Museum in Mobile. Fun for the entire family, like the Aviation Museum in Pensacola. It’s a small yet renowned museum in Alabama with an extensive collection of Mardi Gras memorabilia-a place where the history of … Continue reading »

Sentimental Journey into the South…

JUNE 7, 2016 A SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY. You guys know that our friend Jon, who’s lived in the South his entire life, has been taking us around and showing us the sights. And his “tours” are lots better than what Gray Line has to offer. Those bus tours are better than nothing in a pinch, when we … Continue reading »

Celebrating two years on the road…

JUNE 17, 2015 IS IT POSSIBLE? It hardly seems possible, but this week we’re celebrating two years of full-time travel on our Great American Adventure. Can you even believe it? When we decided to take an extensive trip in our motorhome to see the country, we didn’t really contemplate being gone more than about a … Continue reading »

Happy Easter…

EASTER SUNDAY 2015.  LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA. TIME FLIES! This is our second Easter “on the road.” It’s hard to believe that we’ve been exploring the country in our motorhome for almost two years now. Last Easter we were at Bryce Canyon in Utah. I remember when we awoke and went outside on Easter morning, we found … Continue reading »

Lake Charles, Louisiana…

APRIL 4, 2015.  LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA.  “HELLO, GOODBYE.” “Hello, Goodbye” sang the Beetles in Paul McCartney’s famous song that topped the charts in 1967. Well, today was kind of the reverse for us. We said “So Long” to the Lone Star State of Texas and “Hello” to the state of Louisiana, as we drove to Lake … Continue reading »

Happy Birthday, Paul…

MARCH 8, 2015 LET ME INTRODUCE THE BIRTHDAY BOY. One of the nicest things about our stay at Buckhorn Lake this winter has been meeting and getting to know our “casita-neighbors” Paul Lozano and his wife JoAnn. They own the property right across the street from where we’re staying. They’ve welcomed us and made us … Continue reading »

Thanksgiving Day, 2014…

November 27, 2014. THANKSGIVING DAY. At Thanksgiving, we enjoy a delicious meal, create new memories and give thanks for a year that’s coming to an end. Cold weather in Kerrville…

KERRVILLE, TEXAS NOVEMBER 15, 2014. IT’S COLD IN KERRVILLE! I’m glad we left Wyoming, pushed through Colorado and headed to Texas when we did. It’s only been a few weeks since we were in Casper and yesterday the temperature there dipped to 27 degrees below zero! I don’t know what we’d have done in that kind of … Continue reading »
