We’re jumping for joy!

OCTOBER 28, 2015

MY STORY CONTINUES. We’re jumping for joy today! Having arrived at Alliance Coach inluck5 Wildwood, Florida for what we’d anticipated might be a month-long hotel stay while our coach was having major surgery in the shop, we were delighted to learn this morning that a rather insignificant repair is all that’s needed! We’ll be in and out in a fraction of the time we’d expected. Hooray! Further, the dealership has its own campground for customers, so we can stay in our coach rather than in a hotel. It’s a neat system: On all but major repairs where it’s not feasible, the coaches are “staged” in the campground, taken into the shop in the morning and returned to the campground in the evening. And, customers are invited into the work area to discuss repairs and upgrades as they’re being done by the technicians. I’ve never before seen this system at a dealership, or the extent to which customers are accommodated during the repair process. It’s never any fun having your coach in the shop, but when it’s necessary there couldn’t be a better place than Alliance Coach.

HERE’S THE PLAN: Our motorhome will go into the shop Monday morning and we should be good to go by the weekend. Then, it’s about a two day drive to our winter home in Gulf Shores, so we’ll arrive only about a week later than we’d planned. Whew! What a relief. Even though this whole repair fiasco was obviously beyond our control, we’ve been feeling awful about “standing up” our friends Roger and Annie, whom we’ve been planning for a year to meet in Gulf Shores for the winter. Now, it looks as if we’ll just be “fashionably late.”

Alliance Coach is a truly unique RV dealership. While your coach is in the massive service bay, you’re free to be there to chat with the techs and watch the work being done.

This is not our coach, but what you see is a slide-room floor replacement in progress. This is the type of work we feared was going to be necessary. Thank goodness! I can see dollar signs all over this guy’s work order!!!

WHILE WE’RE HERE: While we’re here, we’ll probably take a few day trips to local attractions and maybe see a couple of movies. We’ve each got several new books in the “queue,” so we won’t have any trouble keeping busy. And now that we’re back in the south, I’ve started seeing Alligator Warning Signs again. Maybe this time around I can get a better alligator picture to show you guys. I had fun with that challenge last spring when we were in Alabama. I’ll get some photos and interesting text posted soon. And before you know it, we’ll be in Gulf Shores. So, come back and see us again, won’t you?

I’LL CONTINUE MY STORY NEXT TIME.
