“On the road again…Goin’ places that I’ve never been, Seein’ things that I may never see again and I can’t wait to get on the road again.”

 -Willie Nelson

TIME TO SADDLE-UP. It’s time to saddle up, hit the road and put the Texas Hill Country in our rear-view mirror. We’ve enjoyed our stay immensely. Buckhorn Lake Resort is absolutely first-class in every respect and we’ve made some good friends during our stay. Together we’ve celebrated holidays and birthdays, enjoyed lots of day-trips, dined at darn near every restaurant in town, spent a long weekend in Corpus Christi at the beach and in general just enjoyed “hangin’ out.” It’s always hard to say goodbye. Happy trails to you guys!

bye

Dan and Robyn: We’ve really enjoyed your company and learning about your part of the world. We hope our paths cross again…perhaps here at Buckhorn Lake again next year. Or maybe,  just maybe, we’ll persuade you to join us at Gulf Shores for Christmas and New Years. But in any event, we’re planning to visit Kansas city sometime during our Journey and we’ll for sure see you again then.

Roger and Annie: Thanks for your friendship and for including us at all of the campfires you’ve hosted. We are way-excited about our plans to meet you guys at Gulf Shores next winter! We’ll give you the low-down about the area and all the possibilities when we arrive for our “preview visit” in a few weeks. Hopefully we’ll find a place we can all agree is super-duper so we can make reservations.

And Paul and JoAnn: How lucky we’ve been to have had you as neighbors here in the Club area of the resort. Thanks so much for making us feel welcome in “the neighborhood.” Paul’s birthday weekend was such fun for us, as were the times just chatting and getting to know you. We’ll let you know our plans for next winter just as soon as we decide. But one way or another, we’ll see you again down the road…I’m sure of it. ‘Til then, please keep in touch!

WE’RE READY TO ROLL.

goIn addition to all the fun things we’ve found to do here in the Hill Country, we’ve managed to finish most of the projects we had postponed for so long while we were on the road last year. The carpets have been cleaned and all the woodwork and cabinets have been polished. The leather upholstery looks like new. Both vehicles have been serviced, washed and waxed. We cleaned the ceiling exhaust fans, re-arranged the contents of the kitchen cabinets and gave away some things we haven’t been using. All of the RV fluids have been changed and we had the tanks pressure washed. I even re-painted the shower floor with some non-skid coating. We’ve learned how to use some new camera gear we bought. We’re anxious to begin using it…and particularly to start including more video clips in these blog posts. We’re good to go. “Hold your hats.”

COUNTDOWN TO LAUNCH.

Next Wednesday morning we’ll take off and head to College Station, to visit the George Bush 41  Presidential Library. And then…well, just stay tuned and keep us company. Join us touring an old above-ground cemetery after dark in New Orleans, learning about voodoo. Or come with us to a performance in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry House. Ride down the Mississippi River with us on a paddle-wheel steamboat or put on a rain slicker and cruise on the “Maid of the Mist” (boat) under Niagara Falls.  Wow! We’re going to take you to lots of exciting places as we make our way to the state of Maine and begin exploring the eastern seaboard “from top to bottom.” We’re going to have a blast!

SEE YOU DOWN THE ROAD IN A FEW DAYS!
